Big dates in the Ascot calendar

Royal Ascot is the jewel in the crown – five glorious days in June when the racing world descends on Berkshire for top-class sport, high fashion, and royal processions. It's the most prestigious meeting of the year, so if you're planning to attend, book your room with us well in advance.

But there's plenty more to enjoy throughout the season. The King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes in July brings summer racing at its finest. October's Champions Day sees the flat racing season go out in style with some of the richest races in Europe.

With 26 race days spread across the year, there's always a good reason to visit Ascot. Check the official Ascot Racecourse website for the latest fixtures and plan your stay with us accordingly.

What to wear & race-day tips

Ascot has a dress code, and it varies depending on which enclosure you're in. Royal Ascot is the most formal – gentlemen need morning dress in the Royal Enclosure, while the Queen Anne Enclosure requires suits and ties. Ladies, think elegant day dresses, smart trouser suits, and of course, a hat or fascinator.

For other race days, the dress code relaxes a touch, but smart attire is always expected. When in doubt, it's better to be slightly overdressed than underdressed – you'll feel more part of the occasion that way.

Here's our advice: wear comfortable shoes. You'll be on your feet more than you think, especially if you're moving between enclosures or strolling around the parade ring. And don't forget to check the weather forecast – British weather can be unpredictable, so a light jacket or wrap is always wise, even in summer.

For more specifics, you can visit the Royal Ascot website.

Unwind by the lake after the races

After the buzz and bustle of race day, there's something wonderfully calming about returning to Lakeside. Our private lake and tranquil grounds offer the perfect antidote to the crowds and excitement of the racecourse.

Take a gentle stroll around the water's edge. Settle into a comfy chair with a drink and watch the evening light dance across the lake. Or simply retreat to your room, kick off those heels or smart shoes, and enjoy the view from your balcony. It's the kind of peaceful, restorative atmosphere you need after a long day in the sun – or rain.

And if you're staying for more than one race day, you'll appreciate having this quiet sanctuary to return to each evening. Recharge, relax, and get ready to do it all again tomorrow.
